ROSS MARILYN BURNETT of Pleasant Ridge, beloved and devoted wife of Donald H. Ross, died Tuesday, June fat home, as peacefully and gracefully as she lived. surrounded by her family. She was 74 years old. Marilyn was a charter member, and past president, of the Midstates Ceramic Circle and the Michigan Oriental Society, Marilyn, along with her husband, was a 50-year member and patron of the Detroit Institute of Arts Founders Society.

She was active in the Asia Society in New York, where the Rosses kept a second home. As an enthusiastic scholar of Asian arts, Marilyn enjoved sharing her knowledge, and taught aduff education classes on the Decorative Arts, in her community and at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. Known for her understated elegance, Marilyn was a superb seamstress: she made her own clothes, quilts, decorative pillows, purses and jewelry, She enjoyed the arts, but loved dogs, and leaves behind Kimmie and Mollie, pugs she adopted from the Pug Rescue League. Marilyn was fond of birds and kept several feeders in the backyard garden, where she spent many hours planting and fending. Inside the house, a pair of canaries were usually singing, always named Timmy and Chrissy.

sometimes she had finches, more canaries, and once, a 23-year-old dove, Reddy. A lady of eclectic tastes, Marilyn preferred listening to Nina Simone and Billie Holiday, but kept her radio tuned to country-western. For the theater, she frequented smaller venues like Planet Ant in Hamtramck and the Detroit Repertory in Highland Park. She supported several charities for animals, and belonged to the Free Thinkers Society, American Sewing Guild, American Ceramic Circle and the Neighborhood Artisans Sewing Group, which made sleeping bags, toys and clothes for the homeless. Marilyn Burnett Ross was the cherished mother of the late Peter (Suzanne), David (Lucia), Serena Crisan (Douglas), and Matthew.

She will be missed deeply by her grandchildren, Drew, Zachary and Stephanie Crisen and Natalie and Julian Ross. Especially saddened by her passing are her brother Michael Hirschelmen and sister-in-law Lynne, with whom she spent many years antiquing and chasing down the perfect fabrics for their shared love of sewing. Marilyn was the sister-in-law to Dr. Richard Ruzumna (Jane), and the aunt to Wendy Evan Hirschelman, Paul and Dan Ruzumna, Jon and Jeff Immerman. No funeral services are planned, and cremation was by the Cremation Society of Michigan.

A private memorial will be held at a later date. In her memory, donations may be sent to the Humane Society of Michigan. sem*nUK ALICE IRENE age 85 of Rochester Hills, June 9, 2004. Loving wife of the late Anthony. Dear mother of Elaine (Jack Allen) Gatlin and the late Kenneth sem*nuk.
