It was such an honor last night to be inducted into the St. Bernard’s Hall of Fame as a “Distinguished Bernardian”. The St. Bernard’s Alumni Association put this event together and they made it such a special night for me, my family and for all the award winners. 💙💛It’s somewhat surreal to see - and hear - your entire life being displayed and discussed in a room full of people. I am typically someone who is uncomfortable with attention so I was initially squirming. And I have chronic “Imposter Syndrome” even as an adult - am I really all of what these people are saying? 🥹But this recognition gave me the opportunity to stand up and thank people you never get to publicly thank: my parents, my husband and my high school teachers who made all the difference. This was more about all of them than me. 🥰 Right before they called me on stage, the presenter talked about my love for Courtney, Jordan and Carson and my step-children Kaitlyn and Connor. And they mentioned how Courtney had passed away and how her fight has both influenced and inspired me. So I got up on stage a little bit in tears but grateful that this night was, not only about my professional accomplishments, but also about the people I love most in the world. ❤️

It was truly my honor to be invited by (Ret) Chief Frank Frederickson to speak at a ceremony at the State House yesterday to honor State Representative Mike Kushmerek. Chief Frederickson and the Massachusetts Fraternal Order of Police wanted to recognize Rep. Kushmerek for his commitment to police training in the Commonwealth. In an effort to learn more about the objectives, philosophy and methodology of the training, Rep. Kushmerek requested to work out with me and my staff last summer during the FSU Police Academy's 6th ROC. He also attended EVOC with us at SP Devens - which is the Emergency Vehicle Operations Course training. He actually drove some of the courses - and he aced them all!Rep. Kushmerek's stated that his goal was to learn more about how police are trained in the Commonwealth so he could be more informed when discussing these issues with his colleagues at the State House. He is a great example of leading from the front. Thank you for all you do, Rep. Kushmerek! Your hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed!Michael KushmerekFrank Frederickson

Some days, I really can’t believe where my professional path has taken me. I want to thank my friend (Ret) Chief Frank Frederickson for his invitation to the State House yesterday. I’m waiting on some pics before I post the actual reason I was there. But, I had the chance to spend some time with the Chief walking around the State House. He met with some elected officials to discuss pending legislation which would provide 100% benefits to first responders who are violently injured in the line of duty. It was such a fascinating experience. Met some great people. Cool day!

It’s getting *really* real for my next academy class, the 34th ROC. Their entry PT Assessment was yesterday. In order to move forward to the academy, these candidates need to pass the 30% Cooper standards for push-ups, 1.5 mile run & 300 meters - and meet a plank standard as well. Next up is their Academy Orientation on June 24th. Then Day 1 on July 8th! And thank you to Fitchburg State University for allowing us to use Elliot Field today for the test! We truly appreciate the continued partnership!

I hosted a Massachusetts State Police training at the academy today. Their Special Emergency Response Team (S.E.R.T.) needed a gym large enough to conduct a Use of Force (baton) Recertification training for the entire team. I always welcome the opportunity to collaborate with our state law enforcement partners! #MassachusettsStatePolice

I was working at the Boylston Academy on this day 8 years ago. I recall vividly that all of the officers who came for training that day were supporting each other, trying their best to manage their shock and sadness. They all grouped around Ron's academy plaque hanging in the hallway, so they could see him and so they could point him out to those who didn't know him. Ron graduated with Boylston’s 18th MPOC in 2008.I remember one of his academy DT Instructors sitting with me in tears telling me what had happened the night before and telling me that he had gone to the hospital to be with Ron's family. He said, "I failed him. I didn't train him well enough. I didn't do enough". Trying to make sense of the senseless.I have since been so fortunate to meet and get to know Ron's entire family. They are people who are so full of kindness and grace in the face of unspeakable tragedy. The charitable foundation that they created to honor Ron’s legacy supported me and Carson after Courtney died. Something I will never, ever forget. 💜I am sending them - and all of Ron’s friends in blue - so much love today. Please know Ron will never be forgotten. 💙
